I have an ongoing disk issue in my neck and it got bad again about a month ago. The last time my neck had this issue, I was bouncing from my PCP to different imaging appointments and my old chiropractic clinic for months before experiencing relief. This time I called several chiropractors in the area the morning after my first sleepless night. Portland Wellness Clinic had a same day appointment available so I took it without even reading reviews or knowing anything about them. So glad I did. I was in severe pain and she was gentle and clearly super skilled. This provider's approach is much more than just popping your neck and handing a print out of stretch instructions to do at home. I left the first appointment with a solid plan (when you're in that much pain, having a plan can equal hope which is something that I really needed in that moment). I was seen two more times within 7 days. Pain was improving noticeably after the second visit and gone by third visit. Will for sure be back!

One morning i woke up unable to move my head from side to side! I had a friend recommend Portland Wellness Care to me so I called them first thing in the morning and they got me in right away. This was my first ever chiropractic appointment so i was slightly nervous but i was also in a LOT of pain and feeling old but Dr. Scott Cathcart made me feel very happy about my decision to come in. We went through in detail what caused my injury, how I was feeling, my range of motion, level of pain, we went through it all. He was very thorough in diagnosing my situation and had me do a couple exercises and rubbed my pain points to relieve some of the pain. I immediately felt better and by the next day had my full range of motion back! Dr. Scott Cathcart worked his magic! The part i loved the most about the appointment was that Dr. Cathcart not only fixed me, but was very professional and also very comforting and made me feel well taken care of. I hope i never need another chiropractic appointment but if i do, i'll definitely be going back to Portland Wellness Care. Thank you Dr. Cathcart!

I was referred to Portland Wellness Care by a friend after I began experience back pain. This was my first experience with a chiropractor and it more than exceeded my expectations. Dr. Cathcart was able to diagnose my problem quickly and provided me with care in a timely manner. The facilities are clean and very nice, and the staff is very friendly. I was told that with the type of injury I had (displaced rib), it can take multiple chiropractor visits before the pain will fully subside. I am happy to report that after just three visits (two visits plus a third as a check-in), I have experienced no back pain for the past 3 months. I would definitely recommend this clinic to my friends and anyone else seeking a chiropractor.

After having a long week at work, I came into the Portland Wellness Care hoping to get some relief on my tense neck, back and shoulders. The front desk was welcoming, attentive and efficient in getting me in and I got an appointment with Dr. Cathcart. He was super nice and when I told him I'd never been to a chiropractor, he took the time to explain everything he was doing to put me at ease. Not only did he adjust my neck and back, he also taught me some preventative, easy exercises I can do on my own. I walked out feeling 100% better. I'd recommend him in a heartbeat.

I came in during the first week they were open, and they were still building out the space. Even so their systems for processing were top notch and they made me feel right at home. Dr. Scott was able to align by back and neck while making me feel at ease. I left feeling like a large weight had been taken off. Will certainly be back.

I heard about Portland Wellness Care from a friend who had gone in to get help with their back pain. I hadn't been to a Chiropractor prior to my visit so I wasn't sure what to expect. Needless to say, this practice was amazing, the staff is very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Dr. Cathcart was able to help me with my back pain and provide a lot of valuable insights for living a healthier/functional lifestyle. I will definitely be coming back and I will continue to recommend this practice to my friends/colleagues.

It was an amazing experience. I’ve been twice to the Portland Urgent Care and have met wonderful people. My Primary Dr. Naz Recommended I give them a try. She raved about the and rightfully so. I worked with Dr. Jonathan Schaller and he was amazing. I look forward to working with the rest of the doctors there. I would highly recommend them if you need any type of PT Massage Therapy , or wellness help. They seem to me, a great blend of eastern and western medicine.

If using insurance, depending on the insurance plan a co-pay is usually $15-$40. Cash visits can vary between $60-$130 depending on the situation, to avoid dual fee schedules the patient must be enrolled in CHUSA. We have more information in our blog article ‘Does Insurance Cover Chiropractic?‘.

Yes, chiropractic adjustments can be very beneficial to one’s health. Adjustments can increase spinal and extremity joint range of motion and function, reduce muscle spasm and stiffness, decrease pain, increase endorphins, lower blood pressure and much more!

This depends on the situation and severity of injury. Acute injuries, such as work injuries, or auto injuries can require treatment 3 times a week for several weeks to have the fastest recovery outcomes. Wellness chiropractic care visits typically range from 1x a week, to 1x a month. You can learn more about our recommendations in our article about when to see a chiropractor.

No, in fact, some evidence supports that chiropractic care can aid in reduction of arthritis symptoms.

Yes, regular chiropractic care can help optimize physical health and wellness even when not in pain.

Yes. There are many types of “pinched nerves”, from mild to severe. A chiropractor is highly trained in the pathology, treatment and management of all types.

Chiropractors specialize in the hands on assessment and treatment of joint injuries and dysfunctions. They use several different physical medicine techniques and therapies to help restore pain free joint and muscle function and keep you healthy.

You will receive a detailed exam and tests to evaluate and address your pain or injury. In some cases, X rays may be taken to help evaluate the spine or joints in more detail. From there, you will receive a variety of physical medicine treatments, including joint manipulation or chiropractic adjustments to help reduce your pain and aid in injury recovery.

You need detailed health history from your most recent primary care visit and any other pertinent health information.

The best way to prepare is by having a comprehensive idea of your past health history, and assessing the goals you are seeking to achieve in treatment.

A chiropractor will start assessing your lower back. After the exam, they will determine the best treatments to relieve your back pain. Oftentimes they will perform soft tissue work, manual therapy and gentle chiropractic adjustments to improve your back’s range of motion, decrease stiffness and restore function. Afterwards, they may give you home exercises and stretches to maintain the function and improvements in your spine.

A chiropractor may perform an adjustment or joint manipulation on your neck if you are having neck pain or stiffness. This therapy will help improve neck joint function and mobility and decrease joint stiffness. Oftentimes, the neck will make a “cracking” noise during the therapy. This is called joint cavitation and is secondary to pressure changes in the joint fluid within the neck joints.

The chiropractor will do a detailed assessment and exam to evaluate what areas may need to be treated.

Yes, there is no issue with eating before seeing the chiropractor.

As soon as you have any pain or stiffness that is abnormal for you, you should go get an evaluation from a chiropractor.

Severe illness, and or fractures are typically contraindications with the chiropractor.

This depends on your activity level, lifestyle, goals, and severity of injury. Typical wellness care is one time per month, where more acute injuries can be as much as 2-3x per week for 2-3 weeks.

Both are extremely beneficial in treating joint and muscle pain.

In some cases, you will need to see the chiropractor frequently to achieve the desired therapeutic change you are trying to achieve. Often however, chiropractic treatment 1x month or less is adequate to maintain your health and physical goals.

In some cases, you will need regular chiropractic care for a short period of time to maintain improvement. In other cases and more commonly, infrequent chiropractic care can have a long lasting effect.

In some cases, adjustments can create mild soreness. Often, adjustments are comfortable and help rescue pain and stiffness.

Any type of clothing is acceptable for a chiropractic visit, but flexible athletic wear is often best.
